Dr. Crystal
I offer a supportive framework where individuals can explore the conflicts and struggles they are facing. Therapy is a setting where a person can feel safe, and is a time for reflection and making good decisions going forward. While often emotional, I’m careful to help my clients feel deepened by this experience.
Problems I treat include anxiety, depression, relationship problems, addictions, and trauma as well as an understanding of many more obscure disorders. I believe strongly in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and bring my services to People of Color, GLBTQ, and other marginalized populations.
I am a mindfulness based cognitive behavioral therapist. This means I work with clients to hear what their mind is telling them and think through the ideas and themes it is proposing that may not be serving them. Toward this end I have been trained in classic cognitive behavioral skills, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, as well as Internal Family Systems.
In 2007, I received my Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Denver, an American Psychological Association accredited doctoral program. In 2008, I completed a postdoctoral fellowship in addictions at the Seatte VA Medical Center. I have been providing clinical services since 2002 and am licensed in the State of Washington PY3906.
In addition to my private practice I am the Program Manager at the Washington State Bar Association’s Member Wellness Program. At WSBA I provide individual and group counseling, and conduct evaluations. In addition, I write for legal publications and lecture statewide at conferences and law schools on addictions, mental health, and work/life balance.
Other populations I have worked with include veterans, active duty military, community mental health clients, homeless adolescents, and sex offenders. I have also provided full battery psychological evaluations as well as evaluations for those seeking forensic asylum.
